The Idea...
The Cat Osterman Experience started to take shape, as Cat herself began to reflect on many of the experiences and life changing opportunities she was blessed to be a part of through her involvement in Girls Fastpitch Softball – from the time she walked with Team U.S.A. at the Beijing opening ceremonies, interacting with other athletes while staying in the Olympic athletes village, the times she ran onto the meticulously groomed softball field at the University of Texas, when she stepped into the pitcher’s circle at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, and as she was selected number one in the 2006 National Pro Fastpitch draft. She couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude, but also an immense desire to give back to the sport that had given her so much.
The Dream...
She knew that not everyone would have the same opportunities to do many of the things she did, but there had to be a way to re-create some of these experiences, at least in some way, so others could enjoy and share them as well. Cat believes that every girl deserves to have the same feelings of self-worth and sense of accomplishment she has experienced through fastpitch softball, and reap the benefits of being exposed to these types of life changing experiences. So, why not create a state-of-the-art complex devoted exclusively for the development and building of Girls Fastpitch Softball. A place where girls can come and stay, and be totally immersed in the benefits of team building opportunities, healthy competition, and experiences they can reflect on and gain strength from for the rest of their lives. All while forging relationships they’ll be a part of forever.
The Result...
The dream became a reality as Cat joined with the riverfront city of Bellevue, NE and a group of investors and developers that all share a passion for fastpitch softball. The “Cat Osterman Experience” opens in the summer of 2010, and will take place on a beautiful 40 acre site in Bellevue, Nebraska (the third largest city in Nebraska located just 10 minutes outside of Omaha), and is a multi-million dollar facility designed to provide the ultimate softball experience to girls, their fastpitch teammates, and their families.
Mission of the Cat Osterman Experience
- By promoting a high caliber of play, our goal is to have young players experience the purity of softball as it was meant to be played.
- By stepping up to the plate, regardless of outcome, all players leave with a sense of pride, dignity, and accomplishment.
- By playing against and interacting with teams from across the U.S. and world, a cultural and life enriching experience can be had by young girls who love the game of softball.
- By offering an experience to young girls, that allows them to reach within themselves to fulfill their ultimate dreams.
The Goal
Create a destination that is all about the softball player, where at the end of the week each girl can say, “This was the best week of my life!”
